Beginning Book Arts

Discover the art of the book as both a functional object and a creative canvas in this hands-on beginner class. Adults will explore a variety of bookbinding techniques, from simple stitched bindings to folded structures, while also experimenting with creating art books and transforming existing books through alteration. Students will learn how to combine paper, thread, adhesives, and found materials to make unique, personal works. Along the way, we’ll discuss design, sequencing, and how a book’s form can enhance its meaning. No prior experience is needed—just a love of paper, creativity, and making things by hand.
